>>951 there are multiple options for running software you need to that don't run on linux. 1. you can use an emulator like wine 2. you can use a virtual machine to effectively run windows inside linux whenever you need to and then have linux for everything else you want to do. 3. you can dual boot so that you can have linux and windows on your computer/laptop so you can use linux for yourself and use windows whenever it's needed. hope this was helpful!

Dude wine is just a re-implementation of the win32 DLL and a loader stack for PE32+, windows programs that go out of their way to use syscalls directly are not supported, for that to be a thing wine would need to run as a kernel module and add overhead to linux programs making system calls >muh your drivel btw how is anything in that thread related to what i said about wine being an emulator? By my experience the best runners are Wine-GE/Proton-GE, if you haven't yet, I would recommend trying it out, although the creator is now working mostly on UMU Launcher, which is by their description on Github: > A unified launcher for Windows games on Linux. It is essentially a copy of the Steam Runtime Tools and Steam Linux Runtime that Valve uses for Proton, with some modifications made so that it can be used outside of Steam. By my understanding it let's you run proton without Steam, so now they don't need to have a Wine-GE and Proton-GE separated, and considering Wine-GE have not been update in more than a year now, and also the Bottles and Lutris creators are heavily involved in UMU, I can assume it's where most of the work is going to right now.
